"Not Everything is About Race"

Yes, it is. Until we achieve equal treatment of all races, everything is actually about race.
For Asians like me, in America, school is a constant pressure because of the long-existing preconception that Asians are good at learning and getting good grades. Though many should know by now, the Black community of America suffers much more, from racial profiling to death just for their skin color. Some of the instances are more serious than others but it's evident that our society still cannot escape the mindsets of the older years of racial injustice.
Because of this, every day a black person fears the police or, using the Asian reference, an Asian person may feel very anxious over test grades. Very different things, but still everyday occurrences that we can't easily shake off from our shoulders.
Simply put, everything is about race, even though talking about a completely different topic, the racial prejudices and injustices have become such a big part of our daily lives that it somehow will be about race in the end.
The places we go to, the things we talk about, the people we are friends with... It is all race in the end. Not because your friend may be of a certain race, but if your friend has the same opinions about race, or if they think you're not who you are because of your race... It makes people uncomfortable, yes, but it is true; race has become such a big part of our lives, and depending on different people, the impact of race will be taken in all different scales, but it will always and somehow have a huge impact on the way people live. At least, for now, it will.
