The Magic of Film Cameras

This is one of my friends posing in the late nights of a rainy New York City sidewalk.
I have an old film camera, one straight from the local thrift store, and only for 35$.
Sure the cost of film rolls is costly and unless you have a dark room, the processing fees are a little hefty too. But the click of the shutter, then the rolling sound of the film roll... the excitement of waiting for the pictures to come out and opening the envelope to glossy pages of memories is an indescribable feeling.
It's not just any trendy "new-tro" trend(by this I mean the new-retro trend); film cameras had and always will have something distinct about them that cannot match anything else.

These days, there are camera apps for "retro" or "film" effects for pictures, but will you get the full effect? I'm not too sure that it will.
This picture of a friend and I was taken at a town fair and it was out of the blue, captured in the moment of happiness and full of play in our faces. This is one of my favorite pictures that has ever been in my possession and I hope it's pretty clear to others why as to it is. The shining lights gleam from behind us and we're holding dolls that we just won from a game and some cotton candy and water that ends up being our snack for the rest of the night.
Film cameras are a lot. Especially with the advancements in today's cameras, the difference between film cameras and modern-day cameras are clear. Though with many advancements in cameras of the 21st century, the appeal of film cameras is too great for many to turn away, which I also succumbed to, and I'm very glad that I did.
